John brings a diverse twenty-six year background in hotel operations to his role as General Manager of the Hilton Chicago. His career has afforded him the opportunity to gain broad experience through 11 hotels while serving in management positions at city center properties as well as resorts, convention houses and airport hotels across the United States. His tenure with Hilton includes postings at such noteworthy properties as the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport, the Hilton Boston Back Bay, the Hilton Tarrytown, the Hilton San Diego Resort and the Hilton Waikoloa Village. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University and is an active industry leader in Chicago.

Marc J. Gordon, President & CEO, Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association, joined the Hotel-Motel Association of Illinois in December of 1997 as President & CEO. Under his leadership, the Association which has represented the lodging industry since 1910, changed its name to the Illinois Hotel &Lodging Association in April 2001. The Association is comprised of approximately 450 hotel members representing over 75,000 hotel rooms and 150 allied member companies. Mr. Gordon has more than 30 years of management experience in the hospitality industry, previously serving as senior director for the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, whose revenue grew from $2 million to more than $16 million during his tenure. In May 2007, Mr. Gordon became President of the Executive Alumni Board for the School of Hospitality Management at Michigan State University. Mr. Gordon has served on the Board of Directors of the Parkinson's Disease Research Society and on the Board of Buffalo Grove High School's Choral Guild. He current serves on Advisory Committees for Roosevelt University and Kendall College in Chicago.
