StayGreen Green Energy Program

For a hotel to designated a StayGreen Energy-Saving
property, it must meet strict energy reduction standards that
the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association sets.
Some StayGreen Hotels purchase renewable energy credits derived
from environmentally-friendly, green power sources such as wind,
hydro, and solar to offset at least 50% of their annual electricity
consumption. Others utilize a variety of Green products that
reduce their power usage. Many StayGreen hotels do both.
Some of the Energy-Saving initiatives taken by StayGreen Hotels
include:
- Energy Efficient Lighting
- Occupancy sensors with turn off lights & Heating/Cooling
units when rooms are unoccupied.
- Programmable Thermostats
- "Green" roofs.
- ENERGY STAR commercial Equipment
- Water Conservation Equipment.
- Linen and towel reuse
